Flint is quiet by design. We built it to do one thing well - bring you a little daily inspiration - and we apply the same restraint to your data. There are no accounts and no sign-ups, and we collect as little as we reasonably can. We never sell your information. This policy explains, in plain language, what is and isn’t collected when you use the Flint app or visit flint.day.

Flint (“we”, “us”) is operated by Dmitry Leshchenko, an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia. If you have any question about this policy or your data, email us at support@flint.day.

01

Information we collect

The Flint app has no accounts and no login. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying information to use the app.

What we do handle is limited to the following:

  • Usage data - information about how the app and website are used: which features you tap, in-app actions and screens reached, your in-app preferences (the figures you follow, your selected goal, refresh frequency, widget font and background, and your chosen daily notification time), the app version, and whether a subscription is active. This is recorded against a random, app-generated identifier (see below), not your name or email.
  • Device and technical data - approximate, non-precise information such as device type, operating system version, and general region (which our analytics provider derives from your IP address, server-side). We do not collect precise location, and the app requests no location permission.
  • A random analytics identifier - to make sense of usage over time, the app generates a random identifier (a UUID) the first time it runs and stores it on your device. It is not your Apple ID, not an advertising identifier, and is not connected to your real-world identity.
  • Diagnostics - if the app crashes or hits a problem, basic crash and performance information may be collected to help us find and fix bugs.
  • Figure suggestions (optional) - if you use the “suggest a figure” field to tell us whose voice you’d like in the app, the text you type is sent to us so we can consider it. Please don’t include personal information in that field.
  • Subscription status - if you purchase Flint Pro, an anonymous app-user identifier and your subscription/purchase status are stored by our subscriptions provider so the app knows whether your subscription is active. This is not tied to your real-world identity.
  • Support form details (website only) - if you contact us through the support form on flint.day, we receive the email address you provide, the message you write, and your name if you choose to add it (the name is optional). We use this only to reply to you.
  • Server and security logs (website only) - standard logs generated when you visit flint.day, used to keep the site running and secure.

Your in-app choices - such as the figures you follow and your widget preferences - are stored on your device. If you have iCloud Backup turned on in iOS, those on-device settings may be included in your own device backup, which is controlled by Apple and by you. The app itself does not run an iCloud sync or store your settings on our servers; the only data that leaves your device is what’s described above (analytics, diagnostics, any figure suggestion you choose to submit, and subscription status).

02

How we use information

We use the limited information above to:

  • Operate the app and website and keep them secure.
  • Understand how features are used so we can fix problems and improve the experience.
  • Diagnose crashes and improve reliability and performance.
  • Confirm and maintain your Flint Pro subscription status.
  • Consider the figures you suggest.
  • Respond to you when you reach out for support.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not sell it to anyone.

03

Analytics & third-party services

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers. Each handles only what’s needed for its specific role:

  • PostHog - product analytics inside the app and cookieless web analytics on flint.day. It records usage events, feature interactions, app version, approximate device/browser information, and basic crash/diagnostics information so we can understand and improve the product. Our PostHog instance is hosted in the European Union. On the website, our analytics is cookieless and respects the Do-Not-Track browser signal. PostHog data is not sold and is not used for cross-company advertising.
  • RevenueCat - manages in-app subscriptions. It stores an anonymous app-user identifier and your purchase/subscription status. No personal identity is tied to it.
  • Apple (App Store) - processes all payments for subscriptions. We never see or store your card or payment details. Subscriptions are billed and auto-renew through the App Store and are managed in your Apple account settings.
  • Cloudflare - hosts the flint.day website and generates standard server and security logs.
  • Web3Forms - processes the support form on flint.day so we can receive and reply to your message. It handles only the name (optional), email, and message you choose to submit. It is not used by the iOS app.

We only use established providers, engage them to process data on our behalf for the purposes described above, and require them to protect your data to a standard consistent with this policy and applicable law. Each provider also maintains its own privacy practices.

04

Payments & subscriptions

All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card or billing details. Your purchase is tied to your Apple account, and you can view, manage, or cancel your subscription in your App Store subscription settings. RevenueCat records only an anonymous identifier and whether your subscription is active. See the Terms of Use for full pricing and renewal details.

05

Data retention & deletion

Because there are no accounts, there is no profile or login for us to delete.

  • Analytics and diagnostics data is retained in aggregate and/or de-identified form to track product trends and reliability over time. Because it is keyed only to a random identifier, we generally cannot connect it back to you individually.
  • Support emails and form messages are retained so we can provide and follow up on support. You can ask us to delete your support correspondence at any time by emailing support@flint.day.
  • In-app data (the figures you follow, widget preferences, your random analytics identifier) lives on your device and is controlled by you - delete the app to remove it, or use your device settings to manage any iCloud Backup copy.
06

Your choices & rights

  • Stop app analytics - uninstalling the app stops all further analytics and diagnostics collection from your device.
  • Reset your analytics identifier - deleting and reinstalling the app generates a new random identifier and removes the old on-device copy.
  • Opt out of website analytics - on flint.day, enable the Do-Not-Track setting in your browser and our analytics will respect it.
  • Manage your subscription - view, change, or cancel anytime in your App Store subscription settings.
  • Support correspondence - request a copy or deletion of messages you’ve sent us by emailing support@flint.day.

If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Our legal bases for processing are our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving Flint (for analytics and diagnostics) and taking steps at your request (for support correspondence). Because we collect no account information and key analytics only to a random identifier, most of what you can meaningfully request relates to your support correspondence. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@flint.day.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or “share” (as those terms are defined under California law) your personal information. Contact us at support@flint.day to make a request.

07

Security

We use reputable service providers and reasonable technical measures to protect the limited information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but keeping our data collection minimal is itself a meaningful protection.

08

Children’s privacy

Flint is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age set by your country’s law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information through the support form, contact us at support@flint.day and we will delete it.

09

International users & data transfers

Flint is available internationally, and the providers we use may process data in countries other than your own. Our analytics provider (PostHog) hosts our data in the European Union; other providers, including Apple, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and Web3Forms, may process data in the United States or other countries. By using Flint, you understand that your information may be handled in those locations under this policy and the providers’ own safeguards.

10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or as laws change. When we do, we’ll revise the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear within the app or on flint.day.
